While Iran has outlawed homosexuality, Iranian Shi'a thinkers such as Ayatollah Khomeini have allowed for homosexual men and women to change their gender so that they can enter heterosexual relationships. This position has been confirmed by the Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khomeini, and is also supported by many other Iranian clerics. Despite support for transsexuals from Iranian religious leaders, the Iranian society is not as accepting of them. Some transsexuals point out that in Iran transsexuals can change their gender after a sex change operation, a privilege not recognized in Britain.[34] The state will pay a portion of the cost for a sex-change operation.

of all places!

IRAN!!

WOW!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LGBT_topics_and_Islam

he's not such an idiot after all.

he is even more progressive in this aspect compared to many western countries.

wow wow wow.

The chaste love of men for youths has been regarded as something sacred in many Islamic socities, as reflected in the romantic love literature of Muslim Spain and in the Qur'an where Paradise contains beautiful male virgins. Occasionally, these literary praises extended to more carnal forms of desire, as can be seen in the poetry of Abu Nuwas and many others. In Islamic teaching, however, while homosexual desire and love might be accommodated, same-sex intercourse is prohibited as a violation of the natural boundaries set by Allah.

Early Islamic cultures, especially those in which homosexuality was entrenched in the pre-Islamic pagan culture, were renowned for their cultivation of a homosexual aesthetic. They reconciled their new religion using a hadith ascribed to Muhammad declaring male lovers who die chaste to be martyrs: "He who loves and remains chaste and conceals his secret and dies, dies a martyr."

The result is a religion that allows love between those of the same gender as long as they do not have sexual intercourse. Ibn Hazm, Ibn Daud, Al-Mu'tamid, Abu Nuwas, and many others wrote extensively and openly of love between men. However, in order for the transgression to be proven, at least four men or eight women must bear witness against the accused, thus making it very difficult to persecute those who did not remain celibate in their homes.

The intended meaning of "same-sex intercourse" is sexual intercourse between two or more males, or sexual intercourse between two or more females. It does not mean the act of masturbation, nor does it have anything to do with nocturnal emissions, both of which are considered to invalidate wudu and require the Muslim to take a full bath or shower before his or her next prayer, but are not otherwise punishable under Sharia.

very interesting!
love is ok but no fucking?

http://www.religionfacts.com/homosexuality/islam.htm

I was quite impressed with your work then.
Now looking at your new work, I think you know exactly what you are looking for. The emotion , the narration , composition
are all subtly right.
For a young photographer, you have a mature view and do know how to have self restrain in your images.
I like them and am happy about your progress.
Keep it up and do keep in contact and let me know what you are doing.
Hopefully one day soon, I can curate an exhibition for you.
Meanwhile, check up my facebook page if u haven't.
www.facebook.com/johnclang
Cheers,
Clang

i wonder, i really wonder.

just done with Chuck Palaniuk's Choke. Disguised as a anarchic, fuck the world, i do what i want kind of red-neck novel,
this guy is incredibly intelligent and original or probably just loves foucault too much.
i love how he takes apart great thinkers work, with his veiled references to linguistics and symbols and presents them to you diluted and enjoyable. you've scored a new fan.

this guy is the craziest i'v ever met. if he does what he says.

not even wanting to teach after getting a masters, he intends to only survive on commissions, print sales and the what-nots that REAL artists survive on.

His rationale? "you will find a way to survive, instead of relying on money from teaching, you get desperate enough to be able to survive."

i salute you dude. especially since he most probably will be based in Singapore. and i certainly hope you will do better than the rest you mentioned. you seem like a genuine enough person to me. :)

I wonder how it must have been like to have lived in your world.
Snubbing your wealthy background and living on the edge on the streets, contributing much more than you could ever have to the art world rather than live the comfortable life of a rich man's son.

Fashioning quotes like

"Moments Like This Never Last"

"I Forgot More Than You Ever Know"

i might just get one emblazoned across my chest. haha.infatuation.
and who can forget his installation piece entitled "Incest: The Game the Whole Family can Play"?

or the way he whips out pieces after snorting like Picasso making sculptures after lunch?
and the way he hoodwinks the whole art world and takes advantage of Charles Saatchi?

R.I.P.
